Ramón Méndez Galain

He led the energy transition that allowed his country to have 98% renewable sources in its power matrix - 40% wind, reducing the cost of electricity generation by half. Former Secretary of Climate Change of Uruguay (2015-2016), playing a leading role in the negotiation of the Paris climate agreement. Former Chairman of the Council of IRENA and former GCF (Green Climate Fund) board member.

Now considered a global champion in energy transition processes, he has been running the think-do tank “Asociación Ivy” for the last 3 years, advising governments and the private sector on creating the conditions to promote the introduction of renewable energy and giving seminars around the world to share his country's success story and the lessons learned from this process. Among other awards and recognitions, Fortune magazine included him in its list of the 50 World Great Leaders of 2016, for having demonstrated that it is possible to decarbonize an economy.
Dr. Méndez is a Professor and university researcher with over a hundred publications on various topics. He holds a degree and a PhD in physical sciences from the Universities of La Plata in Argentina and Grenoble in France.

Axel Schlumberger

In addition to leading the Southwire's research & development activities, Schlumberger oversees laboratories and product compliance, specifications, as well as compound technology and overhead systems engineering functions.
Since joining Southwire Company in 1997, he has held multiple technical and commercial leadership and executive roles in High Voltage Cable Systems, Southwire’s Utility Business, and Southwire Canada. He's a leading expert on engineered cables and conductors, Power Delivery and High Voltage Cables & Systems, and a senior member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society, as well as CIGRE.
He holds a master’s degree in Electric Energy Systems and Power Apparatus from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany and serves on the board of Sinclair Digital.

Kelcy Pegler

Kelcy Pegler is the Chief Executive Officer and Board Director of FlexGen one of the world’s leading battery storage companies.
Before joining FlexGen, Kelcy was the Executive Chairman of Sofdesk, a solar and storage software company that was acquired by Enphase (NASDAQ: ENPH) in January of 2021. Prior to Sofdesk he founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of Roof Diagnostics Solar, a residential solar installation company which was acquired by NRG Energy (NYSE: NRG) in 2014, where he continued to serve on the executive team of NRG as the CEO of NRG Home Solar.
Throughout his career Kelcy has a proven track record of building and accelerating companies in the renewables space to capitalize on market opportunities in new energy sectors.
He graduated the University of North Carolina – Greensboro where he was a member of the basketball team. Kelcy has been recognized by several business leadership awards, including, Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year (Finalist), NJ Biz: “40 under 40,” and Inc. Magazine’s – Fastest Growing Companies.

Dr. Héctor Abruña

Professor Abruña, Émile M. Chamot Professor of Chemistry, is Director of the Center for Alkaline Based Energy Solutions (CABES), the Energy Materials Center at Cornell (emc2) and the Abruña Energy Initiative. He completed his graduate studies with Royce W. Murray and Thomas J. Meyer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1980 and was a postdoctoral research associate with Allen J. Bard at the University of Texas at Austin from 1980-81. After a brief stay at the University of Puerto Rico, he joined Cornell in 1983. He was Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology from 2004-2008. His research is focused on the development and oerando characterization of energy materials for batteries, fuel cells and electrolyzers.
He has been the recipient of numerous awards and was named Fellow of the Electrochemical Society in 2013. In 2017 he was the recipient of the Gold Medal of the International Society of Electrochemistry. He was awarded the A. J. Bard Award of the Electrochemical Society (2019) the Frumkin Medal of the International Society of Electrochemistry (2019) and the American Chemical Society Award in Analytical Chemistry (2021). Most recently he received the 2024 Global Energy Prize, the 2024 Enrico Fermi Award and the 2025 Dreyfus Prize in Chemical Sciences. Prof. Abruña is the co-author of over 610 publications (h-index = 114) and has given over 700 invited lectures world-wide. He considers his 66 Ph.D. students and 75 Post-Doctoral associates, to date, as his most important professional achievement.

In 2013, Alex started Lionano and served as CEO during the last year of his Ph.D. in electrochemistry from Cornell University under Prof. Héctor Abruña. He holds several patents in advanced battery technology including NMC/NCA cathode, lithium sulfur cathode, lithium metal anode, and solid-state electrolyte. Yu believes battery technology is the key to unlocking reliable, safe, and affordable EVs worldwide.

Ella Jacobs

An emerging voice in the nuclear energy sector, Ella Jacobs has been immersed in the industry for several years, combining hands-on utility experience with a strong public presence. Currently a junior at Duke University majoring in Electrical Engineering, she works part-time with a major nuclear energy utility in the U.S, gaining practical insight into the operations and future of clean energy production.

In addition to her field experience, Jacobs runs a fast-growing nuclear energy social media platform with an audience of over 20,000 followers, where she educates, engages, and advocates for the role of nuclear power in a sustainable future. Her work bridges technical expertise with public communication, aiming to demystify nuclear technology and promote informed discussion around clean energy transitions.

Chief Technology Officer and Co-founder NuScale Power, LLC
Dr. José N. Reyes, Jr.

José N. Reyes, Ph.D., co-founded NuScale Power, LLC, co-designed the NuScale passively cooled small nuclear reactor and has served as the company’s Chief Technology Officer since 2007. Dr. Reyes is an internationally recognized expert on passive safety system design, testing and operations for nuclear power plants. He has served as a United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency technical expert on passive safety systems, is a co-inventor on more than 180 patents granted or pending in 20 countries and has received several national awards including the 2013 Nuclear Energy Advocate Award, the 2014 American Nuclear Society Thermal Hydraulic Division Technical Achievement Award, amongst many others.
Dr. Reyes is a fellow of the American Nuclear Society (ANS), a NURETH fellow, and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. He has served as head of the Oregon State University (OSU) Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Health Physics, directed the Advanced Thermal Hydraulic Research Laboratory and was the Co-Director of the Battelle Energy Alliance Academic Center of Excellence for Thermal Fluids and Reactor Safety in support of the Idaho National Laboratory mission.
Dr. Reyes is Professor Emeritus in OSU’s School of Nuclear Science and Engineering. He holds Ph.D. and Master of Science degrees in nuclear engineering from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Florida. He is the author of numerous journal articles and technical reports, and he has given lectures and keynote addresses to professional nuclear organizations in the United States, Europe and Asia. He is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Oregon.

Corrado De Gasperis

Mr. De Gasperis has served as Comstock’s chief executive officer since 2010 and executive chairman since 2015. From 2006 to 2009, Mr. De Gasperis served as the chief executive officer of Barzel Industries Inc. (“Barzel”) and its predecessors. Barzel operated a network of 15 steel-based manufacturing, processing and distribution facilities in the United States and Canada that offered a wide range of metal solutions to various industries, from construction and industrial manufacturing to transportation and mining.
From 1998 to 2006, Mr. De Gasperis held roles of increasing responsibility at GrafTech International Ltd. (“GrafTech”), a global manufacturer of graphite and carbon cathodes and electrodes. From 2001 to 2006, he served as the CFO, in addition to his duties as vice president and chief information officer and a leader of its transformation and recapitalization. He's also a director and the chairman of the of the Board of Directors of LiNiCo Corporation. He is a director of ROK-On Building Systems, a manufacturer of low-carbon, renewable building materials and a strategic investee of Sierra Springs Opportunity Fund Inc and also a founding member and the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Comstock Foundation for History and Culture, a tax-exempt organization.
Mr. DeGasperis previously served as a director and as chairman of the Virginia City Tourism Commission. He also has served as a director of GBS Gold International Inc., where he was chairman of the Audit and Governance Committee and the Compensation Committee and a member of the Nominations and Advisory Committees. Mr. De Gasperis holds a Bachelor of Business Arts degree from the Ancell School of Business at Western Connecticut State University, with honors.

Brad Godfrey

Brad Godfrey is the Technical and Operations Director at Movil Soluciones Ambientales, where he leads engineering and operations for one of the most advanced waste management and energy valorization platforms in the Caribbean. With over 35 years of international experience—including serving as COO and President of Power-One (now ABB), a global OEM in power conversion technologies—Brad has delivered high-performance energy and power conversion manufacturing solutions across Latin America, the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
Brad served as the in-country lead engineer for the first U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA)-funded Waste to Energy feasibility study in the Dominican Republic, partnering with Grupo Viamar and Global Energy Solutions to assess infrastructure potential and technology pathways. This work laid the foundation for the establishment of Movil Soluciones Ambientales. Today, Brad spearheads the development of cutting-edge material recovery facilities (MRFs), refuse-derived fuel (RDF) systems, and engineered solid fuel platforms—providing reliable alternative fuels to support the local industrial and energy sectors. His efforts are driving the company’s mission toward Zero-Landfill operations and circular economy leadership.

James M. Hoelscher

An industry expert and entrepreneurial business executive with over 30 years of global experience in electrical power conversion, energy storage, power quality, motor control, and control systems technologies.
Hoelscher has managed businesses that design and manufacture power conversion and energy storage systems and has a proven track record of successful global deployments. Throughout his career, he has won numerous awards for product innovation and growth and has held several electrical controls engineering and senior management positions.
He is a member of IEEE and served on the Energy Storage Association and UNC Charlotte’s EPIC board. He has also spoken at numerous industrial automation and engineering conferences.

Ignacio Díaz – MC

Ignacio Diaz is the Director of Sales and Marketing for Glenn International Inc., based in San Juan – Puerto Rico. He currently directs the four Divisions of Glenn International – Electrical, Renewable, Lighting, and Telecommunications. He is passionate about energy efficiency and renewable sources, which he believes them to be imperative towards the survival of the Region’s economy. This same passion is reflected in the products and services Glenn represents in the Region.
He holds a BS Degree in Finance and MIS, with a minor in Psychology from Marquette University in Wisconsin. Before joining Glenn International, Ignacio worked for IBM and NYNEX throughout several States in the USA.

Jemaris Martes – MC

Martes is a Business Development Specialist at Glenn International, driving Utility-Scale Renewable Energy projects in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. With a strong commitment to collaboration and industry-leading solutions, Martes seeks partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure energy projects align with the region's needs and promote energy and food resilience for communities. With prior experience at GE Renewable Energy, Martes brings expertise in wind turbine product design, value engineering, system reliability, and data analytics. Her training through GE's Edison Engineering Development Program encompassed onshore and offshore wind, hydroelectric, grid modernization, and energy storage projects.

Beyond her professional role, Martes is an advocate for energy equity and climate action. As a Climate Reality Leader and Advanced Energy Group Fellow, she actively engages in stakeholder events addressing critical climate resilience challenges. In 2022, Jemaris was selected as a delegate to the UN's One Young World Conference, a global platform for young leaders advancing sustainable development practices through innovation.
Martes holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Energy Policy from Georgia Tech, complementing her Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez.
